The Difference between Polyester and Olefin Fabrics are as follows;
Polyester is a light gauge fabric, with a 6oz. per square yard weight it is relatively thin by comparison to other fabrics and has a flat weave so it appears to have a very minimal sheen to it. This fabric has a 120 - 200 UV hour rating for exposure and it is generally considered a single to 1.5 season fabric.
Olefin with an 8oz. per square yard weight is a heavier gauge fabric with a thicker fiber and more robust weave. It looks more like a canvas fabric and has a 500 UV Hour Rating, so it can be considered a 1.5 to 2.5 season fabric or longer if properly cared for.
